What can you do in Sanguinet during spring? Fishing, course! The Sanguinet Lake with its 55km2, the second biggest lake in France, and the nearby rivers are the paradise of the fishermen.
There are numerous fish species such as pike, pike perch, carps, tench, trout, blackbass…

 

What is necessary to fish in Sanguinet?

To be allowed to fish in Sanguinet, you must have a fishing license. You can get it in Sanguinet, at the fishing shop, 128 avenue des Grands Lacs or on line on the website cartedepeche.fr.

 

Where can you fish in Sanguinet?

In order to fish legally, we suggest you to contact l’Association agréée de pêche et de protection du milieu aquatique (AAPPMA) du lac de Sanguinet which will tell you where you are allowed to fish. Among these places, you will find:

Fish farming area: a 2nd category private area on the lake of which 1810 hectares of communal land are managed by the AAPPMA. The rivers of the Gourgue, the Canal, and the Arieste represent 12 kilometres of the 2nd category private area.

Fishing preserve: 2nd category private areas with a permanent preserve on the site of Put Blanc with 24 hectares.

 

When can you fish in Sanguinet?

From the 1st to the 25th of January: pike, perch, black-bass, pikeperch,

  • From the 14th of March to the 20th of September: trout;
  • From the 1st of April to the 31st of August : eels (for the Adour basin and the coastal rivers which include almost all the department of the Landes, fishing yellow eels is open);
  • Be careful, for the Leyres basin in the department of the Landes, fishing yellow eels is open :
    • 1st fish category : from the 1st of May to the 20th of September;
    • 2nd fish category : from the 1st of May to the 30th of September;
    • Maritime area: from the 1st of May to the 30th of September.
  • From the 1st of May to the 31st of December: pike, perch, black-bass, pikeperch;
  • From the 1 to the 31 of December: the rivers classified in 2nd category.

 

What are the fishing techniques used in Sanguinet?

Among the different fishing techniques, you can enjoy fishing with live bait, casting, trolling, fly fishing, angling fishing.
