The Landes region
The beaches of the Atlantic coast
Biscarrosse, Mimizan, Contis… you can’t visit the Landes without discovering the beaches of the Atlantic coast, with their breathtaking panoramas punctuated by dunes and pine forests.
The more adventurous can try their hand at surfing or bodyboarding, but beware: swimming can be dangerous.
Discovering the flavours of the Landes
The Landes region abounds in gastronomic treasures, with local produce (Chalosse beef, free-range duck, farmhouse poultry, Armagnac…) and local specialties (tourtière, magret, confit and Landes pastis). A visit to the Landes is bound to include a taste of the specialties for which the region is famous.
During your stay, treat yourself to a gourmet break or a visit to the Tursan vineyards.
The Pilat Dune
Reaching an altitude of 110 metres, it is the highest dune in Europe! The dune lies to the north of the Landes region in Gironde. When visiting the Landes, taking advantage of the proximity of the Dune du Pilat is essential.
With a little effort, you and your family can reach the summit and enjoy a spectacular view of the Bay of Arcachon and the Pointe du Cap Ferret.

The seaplane museum in Biscarrosse

This museum traces the history of these giants of the sky, which in their day linked Biscarrosse to New York and Fort-de-France!

The Arcachon basin
The Domaine Les Oréades campsite is located in the Landes region of France, and we highly recommend a visit to the Landes. However, it’s a shame not to take advantage of its proximity to the Bay of Arcachon. A getaway for oyster lovers of course… but not only! The Bassin d’Arcachon is full of absolutely magical places to discover:
- The Cap Ferret peninsula,
- The Teich ornithological reserve,
- La pointe aux Chevaux,
- L’Ile aux Oiseaux.
- and of course the Dune du Pilat (commune of La Teste de Buch).
Access: about 30 minutes by car.
The Marquèze Ecomuseum
A journey back in time to an atmosphere as if you were about to visit a village in the Landes region of France.
To reach this ecomuseum, where nothing seems to have changed since the 19th century, take the “Resiniers” train (whose carriages are listed as Historic Monuments) from Sabre station.
Access: 50 minutes by car
