1. Sanguinet and the lakes
11 km long, 10km wide, the lake of Cazaux-Sanguinet covers a surface of about 6 000 hectares on which you can enjoy all aspects of fishing and water-based recreational activities : swimming, sailboard, catamarans, boating, canoe-kayak hire, water-skiing…
Traces of human occupation of the site going back to ancient times have been engulfed by the waters of the lake,and so there are still the ruins of villages from the Iron Age (5th – 1st century BC) and Gallo-Roman remains at its bottom. The Sanguinet museum displays these remarkable finds discovered at the lake bottom and shows the work of the researchers since 1977.
More to the South, the lake of Biscarrosse, covering more than 3 000 hectares, is also dedicated to leisure and in particular to water-based leisure activities.
2. Sanguinet and the forest
The forest of Les Landes de Gascogne is the largest pine forest in Europe. It is called the lung of France and covers almost one million hectares. This is a paradise for walkers, photographers, riders and mountain bikers. It has many footpaths, cycles paths and riding trails.
3. Sanguinet and the beach
You will be able to enjoy le Bassin d’Arcachon and the immense sandy beaches of Les Landes coast only about 20 kms away.

For 10 years, every July, Sanguinet has been hosting the jazz festival, “Jazz in Sanguinet” which attracts each year an audience of more than 2000 people.
