The Landes: which beaches are the lifeguarded in September?
During September many beaches are still lifeguarded in the Landes. It is for this reason that most of the coastal towns have at least one lifeguarded beach according to the number of people going to the beach and they close gradually.
With six lifeguards at each first-aid post, the number of interventions has significantly decreased since last year, from 919 to 554*. A drop of 40% due mainly to the good conditions of the sea. The green flag was hoisted during a long period in July and you could rarely see the red flag. The number of people’s lives saved has decreased from 1,406 in 2012 to 1,012 in 2013, so representing a drop of 29%*.
–> It should be noted that all the beaches opened have lifeguards from 12a.m to 6:30 p.m.
