Aquitaine Nature Days : on the paths in the Bay of Arcachon
On the occasion of Aquitaine Nature Days, which will take place from the 22nd to the 26th of May, many activities and visits are organized around the Bay of Arcachon.
Free activities, walks, games of orientation and photo contests….These days are organised by the Regional Council for the local natural environment which is often not well-known.
1. Banc d’Arguin and the Dune of Pilat
How did 60 millions of cubic metres of sand form a mountain 109 metres high, 500 metres wide and 2,700 metres long? That is what you will discover thanks to the walks organised by La Sepanso and the Syndicat mixte of the great dune of Pilat. Reservations: 05 56 54 63 14 or 05 56 22 12 85.
2. Bird sanctuary of Le Teich
Four kilometres to decipher the landscape and understand the use of the river. Come and walk along the river La Leyre in the bird sanctuary of Le Teich. Reservations: 05 56 22 80 93.
3. Reserve of Prés salés (salt meadows) of Arès-Lège
The tourist office of Arès and the association Cap Terre Mer offer to walk in the nature reserve of the Près salés of Arès-Lège-Cap-Ferret (contact : 06 13 71 17 96) as well as to observe small animals of the benthos with an introduction to fishing (contact : 05 56 60 18 07.)
Moreover, a shift welcome is also foreseen. You can follow a guide for two hours during a walk at high tide and you can see the European pond turtle.
4. Saint-Brice les Quinconces
The tourist office of Arès offers activities about agro-environment (05 56 60 18 07), a walk with commentary and an observation of the European pond turtle.
5. In the regional park of The Landes of Gascogne
The Natural Regional Park of The Landes of Gascogne also offers walks from the centre of Graoux (contact: 05 57 71 99 29).
6. In the Domaine de Certes Graveyron
The General Council offer guided tours, walks with a guide as well as outings at twilight. You will see bats, boars and owls.
